‘Dollar’ Bill Bradley

Bill Bradley, a former U.S. Senator and Basketball Hall of Famer, was given the nickname ‘Dollar Bill’ by his New York Knicks teammates because of his frugality, and speculating that he probably still had the first dollar he ever earned stashed in the bank.

Bradley played with the New York Knicks for ten years, and was an important contributor on a team that would win NBA championships in 1970 and 1973. In 1982 he was enshrined to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
