Shane Victorino ‘The Flyin’ Hawaiian

Shane Victorino got the nickname ‘The Flyin’ Hawaiian’ because he is from Hawaii and his major attribute was his impressive speed.

Victorino was a Hawaii state high school track and field champ for St. Anthony High School in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes at the 1999 spring state track meet. Shortly afterwards, Victorino was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth round of the 1999 MBL draft, with his selection being┬ábased predominantly on his speed. This is when he became known as ‘The Flyin’ Hawaiian’.
