Larry Johnson ‘Grandmama’

Larry Johnson is 2-time All-Star forward who was selected with the No.1 overall pick in the 1991 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets, he won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award his first season.

Johnson appeared as his alter ego Grandmama in a series of shoe commercials for Converse, in these popular television advertisements he would put on a dress and a wig to become an elderly woman who played basketball and slam dunked.

In an interview with Vice Sports (video below), Johnson explained how Converse convinced him to go along with the Grandmama idea
