Gustavo Kuerten ‘Guga’

Gustavo Kuerten is a retired former World No.1 tennis player and is among Roland Garros aristocracy. He won the French Open three times (1997, 2000, 2001), and was the Tennis Master Cup champion in 2000.

Kuerten is known as ‘Guga’ which is a common nickname for Gustavo in Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Gustavo won his first championship in 1997 and become the lowest-ranked Roland Garros champion when he was ranked No.66 in the world at that time.

Kuerten was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2012.
