People will never forget the time that Glen Davis was sitting on the end of the bench crying after receiving a blasting from Kevin Garnett. Davis was a rookie with the Boston Celtics who would go on to win the NBA title, lead by Boston’s Big Three of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.
Some thought that the crying incident lead to Davis being nicknamed ‘Big Baby’, but he was called big baby a long time before that. When Davis was nine years old, his coach requested that he stop crying and called him a big baby because he was large compared to other children of his age. Davis has tried to dispel this as the reason he got his nickname and given his explanation that he got the nickname because he was born as a big 14-pound baby.
