Gaël Monfils ‘Sliderman’

Gaël Monfils is nicknamed ‘Sliderman’ because he slides a lot while playing, this is on all court surfaces including hard courts.

Monfils plays a primarily defensive game and uses his foot speed and flexibility to chase down balls. Often described as one of the fastest men on the tour, Monfils is also one of the best retrievers in tennis.

Even though Monfils plays a defensive style of game, he can generate a lot of power on his serve and hit his forehand with enormous power, which leads many to question why the Frenchman tends to play more conservative rather than a more attacking style of tennis.

Tennis viewers are occasionally treated to amazing shots when Monfils decides to get flamboyant which his shot-making.
